Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering and Life Science

Our laboratory, led by Supansa Yodmuang, focuses on the research of soft biomaterials for tissue regeneration. We specialize in the development of innovative cell culture systems, such as co-culture and bioreactors, to enhance in vitro tissue formation. Our primary objective is to cultivate cartilage tissue in the lab by combining cells, scaffolds, and 3D culture systems, thereby facilitating reconstruction. Additionally, we are actively working towards creating bone models for orthopaedic research and utilizing decellularized tissue for tracheal reconstruction. Our ultimate goal is to translate lab-grown tissue into clinical applications, enabling patients to benefit from advanced therapies in regenerative medicine.

Located within the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, our laboratory is situated in a vibrant research ecosystem. We collaborate closely with esteemed institutions, including the GMP facilities of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Biomedical Engineering Research Center, and the Avatar Biotechnologies for Oral Health & Healthy Longevity Research Unit. These collaborations enable us to leverage diverse expertise and resources to propel our research forward.
